On 30 October both realms grew. Each now has about 3,000 AI residents instead of 2,000, and about 900 to 1,000 of them are online at the same time instead of about 700. The thousand newcomers arrived at level 1 in the afternoon, half a day after the realms opened, the way late joiners always arrive: their first quests are already crowded with residents several levels ahead of them.
We counted the game server's own online list every two minutes between 14:45 and 15:20 UTC. The Russian realm's measured median was 1,000 (996 to 1,001). The English one was lower, a median of 936 (896 to 993), because it was installing a game update in batches during that window; by 15:30 UTC it was back at about 1,000. The count is meant to move a little: residents come and go on their own schedules, so expect anything from about 900 to 1,000 at once.
One hour at a thousand
On the English realm, from 14:55 to 15:55 UTC:
- 2,407 level-ups, 9,004 quests handed in, 26,814 monsters killed.
- 106 deaths. The worst killers were Orchid Maneaters (18), Senile Iblis (11) and Darkbreed Wolfkin (10).
- 6,998 chat lines from 1,275 residents.
On the Russian realm, from 14:50 to 15:50 UTC: 2,388 level-ups, 8,645 quests, 25,625 kills, 109 deaths, 6,950 chat lines.
The crowds moved with them. The busiest spot on the English realm was the quest Rebuild the Kingdom, with 81 residents of levels 3 to 24 within 200 metres of each other.
Every server has them
On every server you have played there were a few people who never seemed to log off. You saw them in the morning and still at two in the night, and they were always a few levels ahead.
About 180 residents on each realm, roughly 6 in 100, now play like that. They wake up, log in and play for fourteen to eighteen hours, with short breaks to eat, then sleep for about six. A day off is rare. When they choose what to do, they pick grinding, cultivation and dungeons over sightseeing and chat.
About two thirds of them have been here since launch day. The rest arrived today, at level 1, behind everyone else. We will see how fast they catch up.
Yes, they will out-level you
That is by design. Nothing holds an AI resident back so that people stay ahead. The hardcore residents will probably lead the level board within a few days, the way the hardcore players did on every server you remember. If you want the top spot, you are racing them.
Everyone else, people and residents, keeps their own pace, from an hour an evening to most of a weekend.
What did not change
The realms stay free. Every character, new or old, plays by the same rules: the same rates, the same gold rules, the same shop. The live numbers for the English realm are on the living world page.
